Our Mission

Our mission at SadieBug Charities is two-fold.  Throughout our careers in emergency medicine and the fire service, we have both observed patients and family members as well as co-workers and peers experience loss, tragedy and trauma.  

We are on a mission to be a resource for victims and their family members during a life-changing event.   When there is a structure fire, every resource that can be allocated to saving the home is deployed.  But, at the end of the day, when the fire is out and the area has been mopped up, the firefighters go home, leaving the victims alone to pick up the pieces.  Similarly, an unexpected medical event has the same impact.  Many family members are left to wonder how they are going to pay for fuel to drive back and forth to the trauma center or NICU to visit their loved one.  Patients worry about their mounting medical bills and loss of income from time away from work.  SadieBug Charities strives to help eliminate some of that burden during those unexpected times.

Conversely, first responders also experience trauma and loss by providing empathetic care to their patients. Repeated exposure to this type of trauma can wear on an individual’s mental wellbeing.

SadieBug Charities aims to provide resources to promote mental and physical wellness to first responders.
